The scientists in the Department of Zoology focus on questions of evolutionary biology. All Field Museum zoologists are conducting specimen-based research using the Museum's existing collections and results of their own field work. The wide range of individual projects spans many vertebrate and invertebrate animal groups, covers geographic regions from the local prairie to the mountains of Africa and the ocean depths of the Pacific, and uses a wide array of field and laboratory methods.
