Many Field Museum visitors enjoy the exhibits and programs, while others crave more knowledge about the Museum, its curators, collections and research. To meet the needs of these people, the Museum has created distinct groups that stretch the limits of exploration and involvement in the world of The Field Museum. Although each group uses different methods to reach these objectives, they all have one thing in common: They open doors to new opportunities and experiences, while playing a vital role in supporting the Museum's programs.

Anthropology Alliance | Field Associates | President's Leadership Council

Anthropology Alliance

The Anthropology Alliance exists to promote interest in, and support for, the Museum’s Anthropology Department. Because only one percent of the 1.5 million cultural artifacts in the collection can be on display at any given time, joining the Anthropology Alliance gives you access to hidden treasures that most will never see.

Imagine a wealth of discoveries awaiting you behind-the-scenes at The Field—a magnificent Asian scroll, African metalwork, an Arapaho cradleboard. Join the Anthropology Alliance, A Field Museum organization that will lead you to a rich array of artifacts, groundbreaking scientific research, memorable experiences, and exciting evening events.

Special benefits available only to Alliance members include:

  • Evening programs and receptions with Field Museum curators, collections staff and visiting scholars;
  • Behind-the-scenes tours of Museum collections in exhibitions and in storage;
  • Special viewings of exhibitions—with presentations and without the crowds;
  • Visits to private collections and other museums;
  • Dispatches from The Field, the Anthropology Alliance twice-yearly newsletter, highlighting the Department’s work and the activities of the Alliance;
  • First-hand insights into new scientific discoveries by Field Museum anthropologists working around the globe; and
  • Unique travel opportunities.
