SAM Programs | SAM Registration | Frequently Asked Questions The SAM Experience Cost is $4 per student Investigate soil with hands-on activities, live soil critters and interdisciplinary activities! The Soil Adventure Mobile (SAM) brings The Field Museum to your doorstep, and brings the world of soil to life. A Field Museum educator will use scientific displays and activities to open your students’ eyes to the amazing diversity of life underground, and the important role that soil plays in our lives. You and your students will identify underground critters, feel soil textures, and learn the secrets of “soil-makers” as you become junior soil scientists with the help of Field Museum Educators and the curriculum-tailored activities of the Soil Adventure Mobile! The content of each SAM program for schools is targeted to be age-appropriate for different grade levels and relates directly to state educational goals. Students with disabilities can participate alongside others. Because Soil Adventure Mobile programs can be conducted indoors or out, anytime of year is a good time for a visit from SAM. The SAM program can also be structured more informally for fairs, festivals and special events. We hope to see you soon! Cost is $4 per student. SAM covers national Environmental Education Standards. SAM covers Indiana Academic Standards: Science 1-5. Educational Standards: SAM covers Illinois Educational State Goals 11, 12, and 13. Return to Outreach Programs |
